The sad reality is that most of us have placed our trust in a close relationship only to be disappointed in a great time of need. The Psalmist invites the congregation to praise God with him because God will not fail to provide in our times of greatest needs. His promise is to never leave us or forsake us. Humanity may and will come up short, but God never will.
